In the case of this ancient art form it’s about emphasizing breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. It is based on imperfection and impermanent properties caused by Asian Buddhist culture, unlike finding beauty in perfection such as symmetry, geometry, and golden ratio in the West. Beauty of Construction If expand the philosophy of imperfection and breakage to architecture, it can be compared to the beauty of the building under construction. Aaron Betskky, who is a crictic, educator, and writer about architecture and design, said &nbsp;“A building is only as beautiful as the sum of its parts... It is a truism that a building under construction is much more beautiful than when it is completed.” I fully agree with his view of the beauty of architectural imperfection that the space is more filled with potentials when it exposed its beauty of tectonics and raw metarial than when it is wrapped itself with a elegant finish. It is the glory of possibilities as much as the beauty of each element revealed so clearly that makes this construction so beautiful. Port ; Gateway of City Evolution Historically, technologies have developed in geographically favorable locations, often where land meets water. Port cities have always been at the crossroads of change. Traders embarked on wooden sailing ships in Amsterdam to explore new trading routes. London flourished by the power of its steam mills in the 18th and 19th century, and New York and Rotterdam were the world’s largest ports during the 20th century. USA ; A Prosthetic Urbanism in the Age of &nbsp;Sea Level Rise Studio Hani Rashid Academic Project - ‘Fall 2017/18’ Individual Work Pre-Thesis Project Re-Edge City ;&nbsp;A Prosthetic Urbanism in the age of sea level rise Over the past several years there has been significant discourse across a broad spectrum of stakeholders addressing the sig- nificance of climate change and the associated risks relative to human inhabitation especially in dense population centers. Sea level rise, flooding and storms will impact our coastline cities in unfathomable ways. We will see dramatic changes taking place over the next half century as vast populations shift from coast cities inland or elsewhere. Their once advantageous location on the “edge” between land and sea that provides infrastructure, trade routes, natural re- sources and recreational values is turning more and more in to an uncalculable threat. Due to this shift the relationship between the cities and their connection to the water have to be reinvented. At the very same time Re_Edge Cities, like all large urban areas, are faced with the pressures of rapid urbanization and have to ab- sorb an ever growing influx of population over the next decades.Re_Edge Cities have unique yet intertwined histories and identi- ties being linked and interdependent urban entities with diverse but evolving demographics and economies that provide a back- drop for speculative exploration. Now is the time to redefine the meaning and value of tall buildings in our modern society by highlighting the green, safety, and humanity aspects&nbsp;of tall buildings intended to better-serve the man- kind. They must contribute to the protection of&nbsp;endangered environment and offering sustainable alternatives to how cities operate. Planning for New Meaning of Skyscraper Due to urbanization, agriculture has been re- moved from the city. It has become an industry in decline as more people move to the cities to&nbsp;seek work. Now, agriculture needs to be changed by combining with Information Technology which&nbsp;has explosive and potential power in 21th century. Concurrently, as we remove green space from our cities, we are beginning to implement open green&nbsp;space in the new tower to recover from the dam- age. In complicated metropolitans, the problem of&nbsp;density is unavoidable and urban dwellers tend to find their convenience in mixed-use building than&nbsp;crowded outdoor space. Agricultural office can be the new typical model for our future, and it also can offer green space&nbsp;for efficiency of work.
